Frank Van Buren is the Managing Director and Founder of Van Buren Advisory LLC (VBA), based in Charlotte, North Carolina. He established VBA in October 2024 after a distinguished 26-year career at Wells Fargo, where he held leadership roles across Investment Banking, Sales & Trading, and Talent Development within Corporate & Investment Banking. Recognized for his contributions at the enterprise level, Frank received the Golden Spoke (2016) and Champion’s Spotlight (2023) awards.

Before his retirement, Frank served as Managing Director and Talent Development Office Leader for Corporate & Investment Banking, overseeing initiatives in recruiting, coaching, training, development, wellness, and retention for over 750 emerging talent bankers. From 2019 to 2023, he was the Development Officer for the Global Mergers & Acquisitions and Regional Investment Banking divisions, directly managing and developing 100+ VPs, Associates, and Analysts. His early career included 16 years on the High Yield Sales & Trading team as a senior salesperson, preceded by five years in the Investment Banking Division.

Frank holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, earned as a Consortium for Graduate Study in Management Fellow. Prior to his business career, he served six years in the U.S. Army as a UH-60 Blackhawk pilot, completing nation-building, drug interdiction, air cavalry, and MEDEVAC missions across Central America, Germany, and the Middle East. These experiences are chronicled in his book, Life Lessons from The Cockpit, available on Amazon.

A strong veterans advocate, Frank serves on the Board of Directors for Veterans Bridge Home and is an active supporter of veteran transition initiatives. He also serves on the advisory boards of Shippensburg University’s College of Business and the University of North Carolina Charlotte Graduate School. Frank earned a B.A. from Shippensburg University, where he was a standout intercollegiate football player, earning All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honors and setting five school records.
